MEGHNA DAS

ODISSI ARTISTE . WRITER . CHOREOGRAPHER . PRODUCER

A student of Smt. Sahana Das, Nrityagram, and Smt. Madhulita Mohapatra, Meghna is a Bangalore-based Odissi dancer with 27 years of training behind her. Today, as Assistant Director and faculty member of the Nrityantar Academy of Performing Arts, a senior ensemble artiste at Nrityantar, and Founder of Akar Productions, Meghna is making her way through the classical dance industry in Bangalore. 

 

After her professional debut in 2012, she went on to perform across India and overseas, collaborating with artists of different styles and disciplines from all over the world. She has written and directed 3 full length productions – Anamika, Neelachal, and Ayam – that have been staged across India to full houses and critical acclaim. 

 

A Visharad in Odissi from Pracheen Kala Kendra, a graded Doordarshan artiste, a regular performer for the ICCR, and the recipient of the National Chinta-O-Chetana Baishaki Award from the Government of Orissa, Meghna is currently pursuing a PhD in Performing Arts from Srishti School of Art, Design, & Technology in Bangalore, India.

 

Passionate about the arts in India, Meghna hopes that through her work with Akar Productions, she will be a part of a changing environment in which the classical and folk arts are produced, performed, and watched in India. ​
